We are pleased to announce, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will be the jersey sponsor of amateur cyclist James Kiir Thak ( Kitto) as he attempts to battle it out at the upcoming Mt. Kenya Epik MTB Tour from 20th – 23rd April 2018.
Air France KLM Martinair Cargo have come alongside Africa Extreme, the organisers of the event, to support the promising young cyclist in his aspiring career as a professional cyclist. This is in line with the organisers joint initiative with the Safari Simbaz Trust to develop the cycling as a sport and engage more talented youth in competitive cycling as a professional career.
Profile:
20 year old Kitto arrived in Kenya as a refugee from war torn Sudan as an ll year old at Kakuma refugee camp. He later settled with his family in Kikuyu where he proved himself to be a gifted football player through primary and high school. He was forced to drop out of school due to family hardships, but continued playing football earning himself a position as captain of the Safari Simbaz Football club. His outstanding performance and leadership skills secured him sponsorship back to school through the Safari Simbaz. He joined a school in Kibira and started cycling to and from school everyday. He subsequently joined the Safari Simbaz cycling team and has in recent competitions posted some very impressive results.
His dream is to help build the first South Sudanese cycling team, wi:th the sponsorship of Airfrance KLM Martinair Cargo he is well on his way to achieving this goal.

About The Mt.Kenya Epik MTB Tour:
The Mt.Kenya Epik MTB will be a 3 stage event spread over four days from 20th April to 23rd April to include a prologue prior to the main event on the Friday 20th April. As part of our commitment to engage the youth in the sport, we also be hosing a two stage kids race which will take place within the grounds of Naro Moru Riverlodge on 21st and 22nd April. Both the adult and the kids courses have been prepared by the technical director, David Kinjah and promise a tough but enjoyable ride for every level cyclist.
