The Naro Moru Time Trial will take place at the Naro Moru River Lodge on Saturday August 27th 2016. The event is a pre-cursor event to the Mt. Kenya Epik Challenge which was founded by former world marathon champion Douglas Wakihuri and renowned cyclist David Kinja and will cover a distance of 50km. Riders can register in teams of two from 9:00 AM at only 1500/- for adults and 1000/- for kids. The event is set to start at 10:00 AM and will give the participants a feel of the actual challenge slated for later in the year.
The Time Trial is meant to help riders gauge their strength and ability as part of preparation for the Epik Challenge and will attract riders from all walks life. The main focus of the Mt.Kenya Epik Challenge is to increase awareness of sports tourism activities in Kenya as well as providing a platform for expression and discussion on social issues such as education, agriculture and health. This event will also create awareness of conservation projects around the mountain which address issues arising as a result of human/ wildlife conflict and management of natural resources especially in the water catchment areas.
The event promises to be fun-packed and participants will have the chance to experience the outdoors in a unique way on their bicycles. Families can also register and use it as a bonding session as they cycle off-road in a serene environment that will offer relaxation to both body and mind. Several international cyclists will grace the event as they acclimatize with the surrounding and put final touches on their preparation for the Mt.Kenya Epik Challenge. It will also provide a unique opportunity to learn several tips from experienced riders thus doubling up as both a fun and learning experience. Put on your cycling gear and join us at The Naro Moru River Lodge this Saturday as we experience the untamed in a way like no other. DARE, DISCOVER AND ENGAGE!!!
